 23 January 1948 ~  06 September 2004

 Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world;
In the Name of God the Father Almighty who created you;
In the Name of Jesus Christ who redeemed you;
In the Name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you.
May your rest be this day in peace,
and your dwelling place in the Paradise of God.

Mr. Robert Dale Vest
February 23, 1948 - September 06, 2004

Robert Dale Vest, 56, of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2004.

In spite of being a quadriplegic for 38 years, Robert was able to accomplish many things during his life. He was a gymnast in high school and college, a renowned artist who sold and exhibited his artwork. He also taught high school in Miami and was a licensed clinical social worker. Robert was an experienced ham radio operator talking to people all over the world. He graduated from Barry University in Miami, FL, owned and operated a computer store in Miami, and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. But above all else, he loved God and his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; father, Robert O. Vest and brother, Tom Vest.

Survivors include his mother, Grace Vest; sister, Robin (Tim) Griffis; sister-in-law, Jana Vest Nicholson; nieces, Katie (Kerry) Falcon and Sarah Griffis; nephews, Sean Griffis, Adam, Jay, and Luke Vest; great-nieces, Alexa Griffis and Brianne Falcon; numerous other cousins, aunts, uncles, and many special friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, September 10, 2004 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Pastor I.G. Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Robert requested that donations be made to Calvary Chapel Pensacola Assistance Program. A program from which he benefited.

Special thanks to Sacred Heart Home Care. Louise and Nancy were treasured caregivers and friends. Also, a special thank-you to Dr. James Fleischhauer and Dr. Daniel Doty.
Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Beatitudes

Matthew 5:1-12 (King James Version)

And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain: and
when He was set, His disciples came unto Him: And He
opened His mouth, and taught them, saying,

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute
you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for
my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your
reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which
were before you.

We Shall Meet Again

If I should leave this world
Without a warning,
And not even whisper a fond farewell,
Grieve not for one more message
From the lips that God has stilled.
But just remember me with love
And prayers for my soul's journey
To that fair land beyond life's tears.
For I have believed with all my heart
In its existence, and I know that
God is good, for He has come to me
Through the life of Him whose very
Garment I have sought to touch.
It may be lonely, and I hope you miss me
Just a little, because I have loved so deeply
Forgive me if I have ever hurt you
And remember me for what I longed to be.
Have faith that I am nearer than
Your dreams and fondest longings.
For the God of love shall keep all
Kindred spirits close together,
Though the misty vale between
This world and that to come
Keeps us from each other's sight
For a few precious moments.
Whisper softly that you love me
And it shall linger on within my soul
Until you come.
Say not good-bye,
For on some bright tomorrow
We shall meet again.

Memories are a gift from God that death cannot destroy
